History of the Lake Arrowhead Office
Our Main office opened in 2002, after extensive remodeling of a former abandoned bank building. One of the highlights of our 5011 sq. ft. office is the bank vault, now a conference room, with a skylight. Originally Bob Todd started with a smaller office (about 750 sq. ft.) in the Lake Arrowhead Village complex with a maximum number of 14 agents opening in 1997. Later in 1999 Bob converted a small boutique office to a second office on Highway 173 on the way to Lake Arrowhead Village, the Highway Office (about 450 sq. ft.), had another 13 agents. When the Main Office was opened, it became the center of RE/MAX Lake Arrowhead operations. The first Lake Arrowhead office in the Bank Village is now a Satellite "UP" station with 4 agents maintaining desks there. The Highway office is also an "UP" station. So, due to the high tourism traffic, within a 2 block area we have 3 RE/MAX locations. Agents take "UP" times at all 3 offices.
The City of Lake Arrowhead
Lake Arrowhead is a beautiful mountain community located in the San Bernardino Mountains at an altitude of almost 6,000 feet and about an hour and a half's drive from Los Angeles. Life here is at a more leisurely pace than "Down the Hill", with no freeways, no traffic jams, quiet neighborhoods and great "California Distinguished" schools, not to mention clear blue skies. In 1920 The Arrowhead Lake Company, a Los Angeles syndicate, bought the lake and surrounding land. Between 1921 and 1923 the dam was completed as well as the Normandy-styled village, three hotels and a 9-hole golf course. During the war years, Lake Arrowhead Village was a popular rest and recuperation area for service men. Many Hollywood stars stayed at the hotels during this era too. The studios frequently have used the area locations for making films such as "Heidi", "Magnificent Obsession", "The American President", "Space Jam", and "The Parent Trap". Recreation opportunities include boating, fishing, hiking, water skiing, golf and in the winter, snow skiing and snow boarding. The center of the community is Lake Arrowhead and Lake Arrowhead Village, which is a shopping center originally developed in the 1920's and rebuilt in the 1970's in an Alpine style. Lake Arrowhead is 9,215 acres of forest which surrounds a 784-acre private lake. Today the year-round population is about 13,000. The two main industries in our community are tourism and real estate. Blue Jay and Cedar Glen are adjacent communities with business centers, also. Many of the surrounding homes are used for vacation getaways. Some of the full time residents work in communities as far away as Los Angeles, but live here because of the beautiful surroundings. We have snow in the winter and very comfortable weather in the summer, rarely in the 90's. It is also called "Rim of the World" and it's a great place to be!
